"These Things I See"

Dedicated to Police Cadets,
Friends and My Family

I took an oath to protect the law
to help the ones in need
to serve my city with great pride
to be the best that I can be.

I wear my badge, and one day a gun,
to help my neighbors needs.
To serve and strive as a cadet
for the Hillsboro City P.D

Even though I'm seventeen,
I've seen a lot of stuff.
I can not tell my family
the things I've seen and cuffed

I see the hurt in peoples life,
knowing I can't help.
There are certain things we can not do
to heal that pain and strife.

I love my job and do it well,
to make my family proud.
My friends all think I am crazy
for going against the crowd.

My family does not know,
these awful things I see.
I hope that one day they won't
know the things seen inside me.

Now I look at you, with wonder in my eyes
and pray to God you won't be hurt.
By my stupid little lies

What lies? you ask not knowing what I mean
The lie of saying my day was fine,
and not saying what I've seen.

I love you dearly and I hope and pray.
That none of this bad will come your way.
You are so kind and patient to hear me say
That I sometimes can not tell you what happened in my day.

I will do everything possible, to come home to you
Your gentleness and loving arms will show me
that my shift is through.

You bring me to a state of peace,
that no one can explain.
It's like time stands still and we're alone,
So I can see no pain.

Thank you God for helping me
Through all the good and bad.
I know God, you're always with me
when I am happy and I'm sad.

I want to be the man that you want me to be,
until then I can't tell the things of what I see.
My family and friends, mean so much to me.
Please God don't let them see,
the tragedy I have to see.
